Biography

Soprano Patrizia Pfauth is currently studying classical singing for her master degree under Prof. Mareike Morr at the University of Music in Freiburg im Breisgau, having previously finished her bachelor’s degree in voice under Prof. Katharina Kutsch, also in Freiburg. During a semester abroad in the United States, she gained valuable insights and broadened her professional horizons under the guidance of Prof. Kathryn Cowdrick at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.

She has participated in masterclasses with Diana Damrau, Prof. Christiane Iven, Prof. Ulrike Sonntag, Prof. Dorothea Wirtz, and Prof. Pauliina Tukiainen. She also received further musical inspiration from opera coaches such as Prof. Marius Stieghorst and Prof. Neil Beardmore, as well as Petros Bakalakos and faculty members at the Eastman School of Music, including Associate Professor and Director of Opera Timothy Long, Professor of Voice Robert Swensen, Assistant Professors of Opera Octavio Cardenas and Wilson Southerland, and Assistant Professor of Vocal Coaching Brock Tjosvold.

She is a prize winner of the Fritz Wunderlich Gesellschaft and received a young talent award in Kusel in 2025. She is also a scholarship recipient and is supported by the Adelhausen Stiftung.

In the 2025 opera production by the University of Music Freiburg, she sang the lead role of “Gontran” in the operetta “Une Éducation manquée” (E. Chabrier) at the Kleines Haus at Theater Freiburg. In January 2026, she sang the role of “Christine” of the opera “Le Testament de la Tante Caroline” (A. Roussel) in the concert hall of the University of Music Freiburg.

She is an active concert singer in Freiburg and the surrounding area and, among other engagements, performed as a soloist with the vocal ensemble in Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s “Elias” at the Konzerthaus Freiburg in 2023. Following successful auditions at Hatch Recital Hall at the Eastman School of Music, she sang a Bach cantata as a soprano soloist. She has been working as a teacher for voice with the Madrigal Choir in Freiburg since May 2025.

She has also participated in numerous projects at the Freiburg University of Music, such as a concert tour in Denmark with the chamber choir in 2023 and, in the same year, as a member of the opera chorus in the production of Albert Lortzing’s “Der Wildschütz”.

During her 11 years long membership in the girls’ choir of the Cathedral Choir School at Rottenburg Cathedral, she gained extensive experience in choral projects such as Mozart’s Requiem, Brahms’ Requiem, Paulus by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion and St. Matthew Passion, and G.F. Handel’s Messiah. As a soloist, she performed with the concert choir of the girls’ choir, as well as in Bach cantatas, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Magnificat, and in masses in the Freiburg area and throughout southern Germany. At the age of 16, she completed a choir director training program through the Swabian Choir Association.
